YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Thursday was a nice warm day for a swim and a local church made it a little easier for families to do that in Youngstown.
Through a program called “Operation Impact,” Victory at Liberty Church helped 200 families get into the city’s Northside Pool for free. Church members also helped provide some classic summertime swim food, including hot dogs and chips.
And what would a day of swimming be without some ice cream? The church partnered with the Belmont Avenue Dairy Queen across the street to give out some ice cream cones.
“Just to come out and not have to worry about paying or anything is just a relief for them. To come on a summer day and have a great day with their families and not have to worry about anything,” said Mandy Diaz of Victory at Liberty Church.
Church members said they just wanted Youngstown families to know they are available for them, especially in times of need.
