Man indicted in fatal Goshen Twp. crash

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Salem man was indicted Thursday for a March crash that killed his passenger.

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Jonathan Shellenberger, 24, on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to a report by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shellenberger was driving on Garfield Road in Goshen Township on March 24 when he went left of center and then traveled off the right side of the road, striking a telephone pole on the passenger side of the 1998 Chrysler Sebring.

His passenger, Anthony Colon, 23, also of Salem, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Damascus Fire Department. He was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he later died.

Shellenberger suffered minor injuries.
