McClain signs with Akron

Youngstown, OH (WKBN)- Youngstown East’s Terrell McClain is officially extending his track and field career. The long jumper signed his national letter of intent Thursday to continue his track and field career at the University of Akron.

McClain will receive a full-ride scholarship with the Zips and says that he would not have been able to afford college if not for this opportunity. He will specialize in the long jump, where he finished 3rd in the State Meet earlier this month. But beyond his athletic accolades, he prides himself in the classroom.

“GPA means a little bit more,” said McClain. “Not too many people have a 3.0 or above in Youngstown, so I feel great about that. They had a meeting and I got to sit with them and I felt everyone was really cool, and I think I will get along well with them.”
