Patrol will ticket motorists for blocking intersections

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol plans to start issuing tickets to motorists who block the intersections around the Intersection 680 construction area.

Traffic has been getting backed up on U.S. Route 224. At times, motorists stop in the middle of the intersection at Tiffany Boulevard, making it impossible for emergency vehicles to get through.

It also creates a bottleneck by preventing cars from entering the intersection.

“If there is not enough space on the other side of the intersection, they are not allowed to block that intersection,” said Lt. Nakia Hendrix of the OHP.

A message board will be posted once again reminding motorists that it is illegal to block an intersection.
