Niles, Ohio (WKBN)- After splitting their doubleheader yesterday, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers dropped the opening game of their series against the Jamestown Jammers 6-4 in 10 innings.
Things started off well for the Scrappers, getting ahead 2-0 after the second inning. Taylor Murphy doubled down the left field line and later scored on a Shane Rowland single. Two batters later, Drake Roberts singled off Alex McRae to score Murphy.
But the Jammers came right back in the 3rd, Carl Anderson scored on a Michael Suchy fielders choice, and then Erik Lunde would score after Kevin Krause doubled to deep right field off the glove to Taylor Murphy.
The Jammers helped out the Scrappers cause in the 7th, a walk and two wild pitches scored a run for Mahoning Valley, giving them a lead.
But they were not able to close it out. In the 8th, Taylor Gushue scored on a Chase Simpson sacrifice fly that would eventually send the game into extra innings.
In the 10th, the Jammers went ahead for good. Scoring 3 runs on just one hit.
James Stokes picked up the loss, his second of the season. Shane Rowland was the only Scrapper to have a 2-hit game, going 2-4 with an RBI, and a run scored.
