WARN notices issued for Sabre workers in Ellwood City

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – Layoff notices were sent out to workers at a Lawrence County business.

The 80 employees at Sabre Industries in Ellwood City received the notifications under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act. (WARN).

The employees were made aware of the plant closing in the spring. The plant will shut down permanently in July.

Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court said earlier this month that Sabre is offering the affected workers jobs at larger plants the company operates in Sioux City, Iowa and Texas.

Sabre manufactures tubular steel poles for utility companies.
