Two to hospital in Campbell crash

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) — Police cited June Hagg, 45, of Campbell, and Ralph Moore of Lowellville in a crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck in Campbell Friday morning.

The crash happened in front of the Splash and Shine car wash in Campbell and sent both Hagg and Moore to St. Elizabeth’s hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol cited Hagg for improper backing and cited Moore for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Police said that speed was a factor in the crash, in which the pickup, traveling southbound, struck the bus as it was going in reverse into the car wash.

Campbell City Schools Superintendent Matthew Bowen said the driver was in the process of getting a new bus after a warning light went off in the one she was driving. The driver was picking up students for summer school.

If the crash had happened a little later, there could have been as many as 20 students on board the bus.

Police were unsure why the bus was going in reverse into the parking lot and said the driver of the pickup was not aware that the bus was going in reverse.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
