Youngstown police investigating death of woman

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown police are investigating a shooting that ended with a woman with a heart condition being shot.

It is not clear if the victim died of the gunshot wound or her heart condition.

According to police reports, officers were called overnight Friday to a home on Tod Lane where they were met at the door by another woman screaming, “She was shot!”

Police found a 33-year-old woman lying on a bed with a gunshot wound to her calf.

The witness told police she was sleeping in the house when she heard several gunshots. Police found several casings inside the home and bullet holes.

The witness told police that the victim suffers from a heart condition.

This death is the city’s fifth homicide of the year and the first since May 28th.
