Police: Warren woman may have overdosed

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The body of a young woman found in Warren late Friday night has been identified and the investigation into her death continues.

Sierra Roberts, 23, was found dead and naked on the side of Pershing Avenue S.W. She was the daughter of Warren Police Capt. Timothy Roberts.

Warren police now are trying to piece together her final hours and how she died.

“Doesn’t appear to be suspicious at this time, possibly a drug overdose, but again we are going to wait for the coroner to make his ruling before we make any speculation,” said Warren Police Lt. Jeff Cole.

Police said a pair of men’s socks and boxer shorts were found near Roberts’ body.

Before she was identified, police released a post-mortem photo of the woman in hopes of generating leads.

“Once we posted it, someone recognized her, relayed that information to the detectives and we went from there. It was helpful. If something becomes available to us and we figure it can help then we will use it. We have to use all the tools available to us and fortunately that happened,” Cole said.

Warren police do not suspect foul play, but the Trumbull County coroner has to investigate it as a homicide until proven otherwise. The coroner’s office said it could take up to eight weeks for toxicology results to be completed.

Roberts was was on probation for a 2013 conviction of felony possession of heroin. Court records show she violated her probation last summer.
