Army honors Mercer company

Flynn's Tire honored by Army

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. (WKBN) – A Mercer County company was honored Tuesday by the U.S. Army for its commitment to hiring veterans when they return home from service.

Members of the Cleveland Recruiting Battalion and the New Castle Recruiting Company held a signing ceremony Tuesday morning at the Flynn’s Tire Group headquarters in West Middlesex. Flynn’s is the newest Partnership for Youth Success member.

The PaYS program is a way for businesses to reconnect with the Army to hire young people after their service is complete.

“We are always looking for good men and women to work at Flynn’s Tire and their values kind of match a lot of our values, so we think it is a good fit,” owner Joe Flynn said.

Lt. Col. Scott Bartley from the Cleveland Recruiting Battalion said the PaYS program ensures the businesses are getting good employees.

“They are getting the cream of the crop because it takes quite a bit for someone to be able to join the military,” Bartley said.

Flynn’s Tire is the 506th company to partner with the Army and the first in Mercer County.
