Mom reacts to arrest in teen’s murder

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The 18-year-old accused in the murder of an Austintown teen appeared in court Wednesday morning and prosecutors released the gruesome details surrounding Gina Burger’s death.

The details of the crime were outlined in a report released by prosecutors. It states that Williams forced a witness to watch him kill Burger and dispose of her body.

Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Ken Cardinal said there are evil people in this world and Ricki Williams IV is one of them.

“I just want to know why, you rotten bastard, why you touched my baby and hurt her like that,” Jacqueline Bacher, Burger’s mom, said.

Bacher is left asking why her daughter was the victim of such a gruesome crime.

Williams, 18, was arraigned Wednesday on charges that include aggravated murder, kidnapping and abusing a corpse. The detailed report reveals that a witness was forced to help Williams out of fear for her life.

“He terrorized them both. He held them in the apartment and he then wielded a knife. He scared her to the point that after the girl was stabbed, he forced her then to help dispose of the body,” Cardinal said.

Police believe that Burger was killed in a Compass West apartment diagonally across the hall from where she lived on the same day she went missing, which was two days before her body was found in a Mercer County landfill.

According to court documents, that landfill in Grove City is a dump and collection area for Tri-County Waste Management, which is the company that empties the Dumpsters at Compass West. Police said they were able to connect the dots by speaking with multiple witnesses. Austintown Police Chief Robert Gavalier said his detectives believe Williams has a criminal past.

“I think we are fortunate we only have one homicide right now, to be honest with you,” Gavalier said.

As for Burger’s mom, she wants a punishment that she says fits the crime.

“I want the death penalty. I believe he deserves it after what he did to my little angel,” Bacher said.
