Pitzer named Boardman fire chief

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Boardman Township trustees announced Thursday that Mark Pitzer will be the township’s new fire chief at the end of July.

Township leaders named Pitzer, 34, the next chief at a trustee meeting Thursday morning. Pitzer will act as the interim fire chief until his official swearing in July 28.

Former chief George Brown recently retired.

Pitzer said he worked for the Boardman Fire Department from 2003 to 2008, when he was laid off. He worked for two years as a paramedic for Lane LifeTrans. He then moved to Fairfax, Va. and came back to the Boardman Fire Department in 2011.

He is a 1999 graduate of Canfield High School.
