Woman drowns in W. Pennsylvania river

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) – A woman who was swimming with friends has drowned in a western Pennsylvania river.

Authorities say the 29-year-old woman was about 30 feet from shore just past noon Saturday when she was pulled under by the current in the Beaver River, about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. Officials say a male friend attempted to get her back above water but the woman was struggling.

Divers found her body in about 18 feet of water shortly afterward.
