YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown company is using social media to create a buzz and help boost the city’s positive image.
“We want to show what is here in Youngstown and what is great in Youngstown,” Anthony Marchionda of the NYO Property Group said.
NYO Property Group is sponsoring the contest.
The effort is similar to campaigns that promote nearby cities.
“Just something that says this is Youngstown, or ‘Live Youngstown.’ So, we kind of took from our regional neighbors in Cleveland, over in mid-town Detroit and came up with our own,” Dominic Marchionda of the NYO Property Group said.
All you have to do is take your best shot. Then, upload it online to either Instagram or Twitter, using the hashtag #Liveyoungstown.
NYO owns rental properties including Erie Terminal Place and Realty Tower. Many of its downtown tenants participated in the first two contests.
“The interns and I, we built off of it. We made it popular,” Anthony Marchionda said.
Others who entered include people who live, work and learn in Youngstown, plus plenty of visitors.
The Marchiondas said it’s a great way to show off the city’s beauty and all it has to offer.
“We need to talk about it a little more and we need to be proud of where we’re from,” Anthony Marchionda said.
The current contest runs through the end of November.
Winners get a gift certificate to a downtown restaurant.
