Trumbull Co. engineer moves to dismiss charges

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County Engineer Randy Smith filed a motion to dismiss legal action against him Tuesday claiming he used his office to unfairly benefit himself.

The lawsuit, filed in late March, alleges that Smith unlawfully authorized a contract in which a business associate had an interest. Smith’s motion to dismiss the charges says that Smith and the associate were only joint owners of real estate, not business partners.

Smith’s lawsuit claims that he should not be removed from office.

Smith is still serving as the county engineer during the legal proceedings.
