Taylor chooses YSU to continue career

Youngstown, Ohio (WKBN)- 2014 Diamond King award winner Stevie Taylor has signed on to continue her career at Youngstown State. The announcement was made today by Penguins coach Brian Campbell after Taylor signed her letter of intent.

“We are really excited to sign a player of Stevie’s caliber,” Campbell said. “She comes from a strong program and has distinguished herself on the field.”

The former South Range Raider finished her career off in style. As a senior, she set single-season school records for batting average (.602), home runs (16) and doubles (16). She also owns the school’s career home run record with 25, which also ranks seventh all-time in Ohio.

Her accolades do not end there, Taylor was named to the first-team all-conference squad as a junior and senior. She also earned Honorable Mention all-state.
