Driver nowhere to be found after Yo. auto body crash

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A crash Tuesday morning at McGuffey Road and Liberty Street left police searching for the driver.

Officers said it looks like the driver missed a curve in the road, ran through some brush and then crashed into three cars an an auto body repair shop. The car hit one SUV so hard, it turned the vehicle 180 degrees.

The driver’s car landed on its top. But when police got there, the driver was nowhere to be found.

The owner of Auto Tech Auto Body said he could hardly believe what had happened.

“I have been here with the owner for many years. I have seen cars in this creek, cars in that creek, but never flipped over like that, never,” Auto Tech owner Herdis Penny said.

As for finding the driver, police said the suspect car is registered to a woman in Western Pennsylvania, so they are sending the Southwest Mercer Regional Police Department to check out her address.
