Man accused of taking inappropriate photos of girl

David Messer

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – A Niles man already due in court next month on a domestic violence charge is behind bars again after police said he took sexually explicit photos of an 8-year-old girl.

David A. Messer, 28, is at the Trumbull County Jail on a $250,000 bond following his arraignment Tuesday on a charge of pandering obscenities, a second-degree felony. He is due back in Niles Municipal Court on July 23 for a preliminary hearing.

According to Niles police, the girl’s mother found digital pictures of her daughter with Messer, who is an acquaintance. She called police, who said the photos were sexually explicit in nature.

Messer was arrested on the charge Monday.

According to court records, Messer is due in court Aug. 6 on a charge of domestic violence filed May 14. Niles Municipal Court records also show 18 entries for Messer since 2004, with charges ranging from traffic offenses and DUI to menacing and resisting arrest.
