Year in Review: Campbell only scored 19 points in their first three games of 2013. The Red Devils stumbled to a 1-5 start. However, Campbell rebounded to finish 3-7 after knocking off Champion (21-12) and Newton Falls (46-20) to register their second and third wins of the season. After the 2013 campaign had concluded, coach Mickey Sikora stepped down after four years at the helm of the Campbell football program.

Coach Ed Rozum will make 2014 his fourth stint to the sidelines at Campbell Memorial. In each of his other three terms, Rozum enjoyed lots of success. In 1978, he inherited a team which had only registered 3 wins over a five-year period (3-45-1). The Red Devils posted a 5-4 mark in his first season. Rozum stepped away from the program for four seasons. He returned in 1985 to lead Campbell to a 74-26 record over the next nine seasons which included three 10-win seasons and a trip to state finals in 1989 (12-7 loss to Ironton). In 1999, he’d return once more to lead Campbell to an undefeated regular season.

The Red Devils will take on their longtime rival Struthers in week one of the 2014 season.

3 Things to Watch in Campbell
Playoff push.
Since the Red Devils back-to-back trips to the post-season in 2009 and 2010, there has been a three-year drought at Campbell from advancing to week eleven.

Elash returns.
Senior Stephan Elash should feel right at home in Campbell’s pocket this fall. Last year, the 5’11 signal caller threw for 1,296 yards as he completed 59.6% of his throws for 8 touchdowns.

Rushing offense?
In 2013, the once-vaunted Campbell rushing attack took a back seat to the passing game. The Red Devils were only able to average 63.4 yards per game on the ground (compared to 136.1 passing yards). In 2012, Campbell racked up an average of 149.2 rushing yards. The scoring totals were hurt also as the Devils scored just 16.2 points per game. The lowest amount since 2008 (16.3).
