Pedestrian killed in Hermitage work zone

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – Hermitage police are investigating a traffic accident involving a pedestrian that happened Tuesday.

It happened in a construction zone in the 800 block of Richmond Drive. James Ulan, 87, who lives in the neighborhood, was sitting on the bumper of an Aqua Water truck.

The driver of the truck backed up the vehicle not knowing Ulan was there. When he heard a thump, the driver got out and found Ulan in the road.

Ulan was taken to Sharon Regional Health System for what appeared to be an ankle injury. He was then flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he died a few hours later. Hermitage police are waiting for an autopsy report before ruling it a traffic fatality.
