Fundraiser held for Youngstown mural project

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A variety of food was available in downtown Youngstown Friday evening as a fundraiser for a beautification and mural project at a former convenience store at Elm Street and Madison Avenue near the Youngstown State University campus.

It was the biggest fundraiser for the YSU student organization called YSUscape. Eight different restaurants, including Martini Brothers, V2, Avalon Downtown, MVR, Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts, One Hot Cookie, Kravitz, and Friends Roastery, teamed up with the group to help raise money for the project.

Also participating was Rust Belt Brewing, Giant Eagle, the YSU Athletic Department, NYO Property Group, McKelvey Gallery, Lemon Grove LLC and the YSU Student Government Association.

The goal is to get the mural completed later this year. It will grace the side of the former R & S Market.

The fundraiser was held at Erie Terminal Place.
