No move yet on port authority position

VIENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Western Reserve Port Authority, which oversees the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, is still without an executive director.

An announcement was anticipated Wednesday but none was made.

WRPA Board Chairman Ron Klingle said they had a productive, closed door meeting with Mahoning County Commissioners over the future of the Port Authority and its funding, which has been uncertain.

Mahoning County Commissioners plan to meet next week with Klingle and other board members as well as Trumbull County Commissioners.

Klingle hopes to address many issues and improve communication.

“We’re planning additional meetings in the very near future where we are all going to be part of the process, and the net resolve of it all is going to be a better working relationship and a director of economic development for the port authority that is the perfect person for the job,” Klingle said.

Klingle said the board has received about a dozen phone calls from people interested in the executive director position.

Both counties have vacant board seats to fill, one for Trumbull and two for Mahoning.
