Warren man sentenced for theft from elderly woman

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A judge sentenced a Warren man to 60 days in jail Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to stealing from a 93-year-old woman.

Roderick Lewis also received five years probation and must pay $540 in restitution to the victim.

The case stems back to last June, when Lewis stole the Howland woman’s purse at the Eastwood Mall.

She cancelled her credit cards, but then Lewis – claiming to be a Niles police officer – called her and asked for her credit card information.

After that, charges started showing up on her statement.

That’s when police got involved.

Lewis pleaded to theft from an elderly person, misuse of credit cards and theft.
