STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – A man who opened fire on his cat shot through the walls of his house and hit a neighboring home.
Mark Cook, 57, of Struthers, was arraigned Friday in Struthers Municipal Court on a charge of improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation.
According to a police report, officers were called about 3:15 p.m. Thursday to a home on Park Avenue after the residents said their house had been shot at several times.
Investigators were led to the house next door, where they questioned Cook about the incident. At first, Cook said that he fell and the 9-millimeter gun he was carrying accidentally discharged. Later, he admitted to shooting at a cat that was lying on a bed in a downstairs bedroom, the report states.
Cook told officers he was angry at the cat because it was clawing at several items on the bed. The bullets went through Cook’s home and into the neighboring house.
A search of Cook’s house, which he shares with his mother, uncovered 31 guns and an “enormous” amount of ammunition, according to the police report.
