Fatal Mecca Twp. crash blamed on wet roads

MECCA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Trumbull County.

The crash happened about 5:10 p.m. Sunday on Route 88, west of Morrell Ray Road in Mecca Township.

According to police, Kenneth A. Hudnell, 43, of Bristolville, was traveling west on Route 88 when he lost control on the wet roadway, drove off the left side of the road, striking a sign and utility pole. The Dodge Dakota overturned ejecting Hudnell. He was taken to St. Elizabeth’s hospital where he died from his injuries.

Hudnell was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger, Georgann Barrickman, 51, of Kinsman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Barrickman was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
