YPD investigating south side homicide

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown Police are investigating a murder which occurred early Monday morning.

Police say someone shot and killed the victim, 27-year-old Zachary Frischkorn from Youngstown’s west side, according to an initial police investigation. The shooting happened around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of Carroll St. on the south side of Youngstown.

Police are not sure of the exact circumstances of the shooting and have made no arrests.

WKBN’s Gerry Ricciutti saw detectives near the scene of the crime using metal detectors as they searched for evidence.

Police are interviewing witnesses but haven’t released any information on a motive.
