AKRON, Ohio (WKBN) – The fan base for LeBron James in nearby Akron is excited for him to come back to the court in Cleveland.

Fans in Akron quickly claimed the thousands of free tickets that are available for an Aug. 8 homecoming event expected to be his first public appearance in the state since announcing his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The tickets were released Monday and were gone within hours, but additional tickets will be available on Ticketmaster starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Akron city officials are not saying how many additional tickets are available.

The event is planned for the InfoCision Stadium. The venue holds more than 27,000 people, but it is unclear how much space will be used for the event.

James has created a buzz after returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers four years after leaving for the Miami Heat.
