Staffing changes made at E. Liverpool City Schools

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – Changes are ahead in the East Liverpool City schools.

The Morning Journal reports that six crossing guards and four custodians are being let go.

School board officials said the layoffs are due to financial issues in the district.

New administrators will be at the helm this school year at Westgate and North Elementary and a new superintendent was named this summer.

The East Liverpool City Schools Board of Education hired former Warren City Schools administrator Dr. Melissa Watson as its new superintendent during a special meeting in June. Superintendent James Herring’s resignation is effective July 31.

Watson was the Teaching and Learning Director at Warren City Schools. She was a principal for the Warren schools before serving as a curriculum director for the Trumbull County Educational Service Center.

Watson began her post for East Liverpool schools as acting superintendent on July 1 and will officially assume the superintendent’s post Aug. 1.
