Leetonia, Liberty schools see financial changes

LEETONIA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Leetonia Board of Education has approved raises for its teachers.

WKBN news partner The Morning Journal is reporting the new three-year deal is effective Sept. 1 through August 2017 and gives teachers a 3 percent annual raise in their base salary, which is the first boost in seven years.

The Liberty School District is getting released from fiscal oversight by the state.

For three years, the district has had mandatory meetings to resolve its financial issues and pay off more than $1 million in debt.
