Storms cause flooding in many areas

Flooding in Girard

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Girard was among the areas to get pounded Saturday afternoon with rain and hail. In just a few hours, folks who live in the Patricia Drive area saw their basements and street flooding.

Residents were keeping an eye on their homes as the drains fought to keep up with the pounding rain. Girard resident Scott Mead was trying to keep his basement dry through the onslaught.

“I’m draining the water right now to see if I can get some of the water out of here and hopefully with the rain stopping, the water will go down and we will be good in a couple of hours,” Mead said.

There were also reports of flooding in the area of U.S. Route 422 and near the police station in Girard.
