CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — The Steel Valley Cluster Dog Show concluded on Sunday at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
More than 2,000 pure-bred dogs competed for top honors in the four-day contest that is certified by the American Kennel Club.
The show, which has been held for more than 70 years, draws dog owners and enthusiasts from across the nation and world.
Organizers said such widespread popularity is a benefit to the Valley at large.
“We got a lot of people out there in hotels. They’re going to local restaurants. They’re buying dog food if they’re out, so everybody’s happy,” said July Laird of the Mahoning-Shenango Kennel Club.
Even the rain didn’t put a damper on things. Laird said they plan for the event all year round, so they were prepared for what Mother Nature threw at them over the weekend.
