Columbiana holding city-wide cleanup

COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – The city of Columbiana is holding a town cleanup through Friday to reduce city operating costs.

Residents can drop off items at a designated location in Firestone Park from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. A photo ID and recently utility bill are required for drop-off.

Residents unable to drop off items at the park can place them on the curb lawn, where city employees will conduct the curbside cleanup in strictly enforced zones. The northeast quadrant was picked up Monday.

Zone 2, which covers the southeast quadrant of East Park Avenue and South Main Street, will be picked up on Tuesday. Zone 3, encompassing North Main Street and West Park Avenue will be picked up Wednesday, and Zone 4, which includes West Park Avenue and South Main Street, will be picked up Thursday.

Items not placed on curb lawns by the scheduled day will not be picked up. There is a limit of three large items per household and tires will be accepted.

Unaccepted items include electronics, wet paint, car batteries, or any appliances with Freon, including refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers.

On Sept. 6, the Solid Waste Management District will hold a countywide electronics collection at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to noon.
