New Middletown hosting National Night Out

National Night Out

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKBN) –  Hoping to combat crime, the village of New Middletown will once again host National Night Out on Tuesday night.

It will mark the 14th year in a row the police department will throw a party for its community, encouraging residents to interact with officers and learn about crime prevention. It all starts with a parade down Route 170, then a free picnic and party at the park behind the police department.

The goal of National Night Out is to help every town across America fight crime.

“Everybody has problems in their communities, but by doing this and bringing people together, it is just an exceptional way to cement those relationships between the community and the police department,” New Middletown Police Chief Vincent D’Egidio.

The party also will include a helicopter landing, K-9 demonstrations and free fireworks at the elementary school.
