Fire destroys vacant house in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A vacant house on Stiles Avenue on the city’s east side burned to the ground on Tuesday night.

A neighbor who lives behind the house at 1120 Landsdowne Boulevard called 911 shortly before 10 p.m. to report the fire.

When crews arrived, the house already was engulfed in flames and a back wall collapsed shortly after they started fighting the flames. Firefighters protected neighboring houses, but let the vacant structure burn.

There were no injuries. The blaze still is under investigation, but firefighters said the cause is suspicious.
