2 depts. smother fire at old RG Steel complex

WARREN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Two area fire departments responded to a fire at the old RG Steel complex in Warren Township Wednesday morning.

Both Warren Township and Howland Township fire crews worked together to put out the blaze off Pine Avenue.

The fire started around 9:30 a.m. inside a building in the back of the complex, too far from a hydrant to park a truck next to the fire.

Firefighters filled their trucks using a hydrant near the street, then drove them to the scene of the fire.

Heat from cutting torches started the fire, according to the Howland Fire Department. WKBN has been told that demolition crews were working inside.

No injuries were reported.
