Community turns out to support young boy

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) — Folks came out Saturday to throw their support behind a Mineral Ridge boy battling a big disease.

Although Mario Novello is only 5 years old, this was the fourth year Mario’s Mission fundraiser was held at the Stone Yard Grill and Tavern in Niles.

Mario suffers from a very rare chromosomal 4 deletion which causes significant developmental delays, low muscle tone, renal disease, heart problems and other medical conditions.

Many people showed up and supported Mario by participating in raffles, auction or just dinning out at the restaurant.

Mario’s mother, Lynn Novello, still gets overwhelmed by the growing support for Mario.

“We are so grateful for everyone who creates the beautiful baskets, the people who come out, the people who are curious, that are like what’s going on with Mario? It’s very humbling” said Novello.

If you would like to donate to Mario’s cause you can make a donation at www.mariosmission.com.
