Trumbull County’s top cop is retiring

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Sheriff Thomas Altiere announced he will not seek re-election in 2016, according to our print partner the Tribune Chronicle.

Altiere has been sheriff for 22 years, making him the longest-serving sheriff in the county’s history.

Prior to becoming Sheriff he served 10 years as Chief of Police in Howland Township and worked as a Trumbull County Deputy Sheriff for 9 years. He also served as faculty at YSU in the field of Criminal Justice and as Chairman of the Trumbull County Law Enforcement Executives Association.
