Mahoning County GOP chooses auditor candidate

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County Republican Party officially has a new candidate for Mahoning County auditor.

Party officials held a news conference Monday afternoon to announce Ralph Meacham as their candidate. He will replace Bill Reese on the November ballot.

Reese pulled out of the race after suffering an unexpected health emergency. He won the party primary in May.

Now Meacham will take on incumbent Mike Scioritino and will have less than two months to campaign.

“It is kind of like David versus Goliath. I don’t have a campaign committee formed yet. I am in the process of doing that. I don’t have a campaign fund yet. I’m in the process of doing that. I am going up against a very large local machine. I feel equal to the task,” Meacham said.

Meacham is a certified public accountant with 35 years of experience in the financial industry.
