Elderly woman, dogs escape Yo. fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – An elderly woman, a group of about six people and a number of dogs escaped from a house where a fire started Thursday morning in Youngstown.

Fire department workers put out the fire, which started on the second floor of a house at 604 N. Garland Ave., where an elderly woman lives. Officials said the fire started behind a dresser but were not sure how it started.

There are two houses on the property at 604 N. Garland Ave., and between the two, six or seven people had to be evacuated, as well as a large group of dogs.

The Red Cross came to the scene to help the victims.
