AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Two local Dairy Queens took part in a cool way to help sick children on Thursday.

It was the “Buy a Blizzard, Make a Miracle Day,” and is sponsored by the Children’s Miracle Network.

Throughout the day, for each Blizzard sold at the Austintown and Cornersburg Dairy Queens, the restaurants donate $1 to Akron Children’s Hospital of the Mahoning Valley.

“The money stays locally. It goes to Akron Children’s Hospital, which is great because, unfortunately, we have sick children,” said Dairy Queen employee Luv Hahn.

Thursday was the only day for the Blizzard promotion. However, Dairy Queen customers can continue to give to Akron Children’s Hospital through Sept. 14.

Last year, the Austintown and Cornersburg locations contributed$ 6,700 to the local hospital.
