Yo. duo charged with multi-state identity theft

Mark Lett and Caprice Daye identity theft

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man and a woman from Youngstown will have their day in court Thursday after a grand jury indicted them on twenty-five charges, including identity fraud, forgery and money laundering last Thursday, according to court records.

Police arrested Mark Lett, 47, and Caprice Daye, 41, Monday after a Mahoning County grand jury secretly indicted them Thursday, Aug. 7.

According to Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Marty Desmond, authorities believe the two engaged in a pattern of corrupt activity by stealing multiple people’s financial information, opening bank accounts and buying things in their names. Authorities believe the thefts happened in multiple states.

The two stole a Florida woman’s purse and used her driver’s license, Desmond said.

The charges against Lett and Daye also include trafficking in a counterfeit controlled substance.

The two are set to be arraigned at 1:30 Thursday afternoon by a court magistrate in Youngstown.
