Voting continues for Mahoningside mural

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – You can have a say on the design of a mural project in the city of Warren.

Twenty seven sketches are on display at the Trumbull Art Gallery, and the winning design will be front and center for the Mahoningside Mural. The 100 foot wide, 11 foot tall wall is part of an abandoned power plant that has special meaning for local artist Tara Karr..

“That area is significant to me in general because I used to live on Atlantic Street, and I used to go walk around there like every day and my best friend lived with me,” Karr said.

The sketches will be on display at the gallery on North Park Avenue through Aug. 31. The winner will be announced shortly after the close of the show.

Work on the mural should start at the end of September.
