HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – An OVI checkpoint is planned for Trumbull County Saturday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Howland Township Police Department, will conduct the checkpoint between 10 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday on North Road and state Route 46.

The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.

The extra patrols are part of a blitz taking place statewide ahead of the Labor Day weekend. Saturation patrols will be conducted through Sept. 2.
