Marines host all veterans at special event

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Hundreds of veterans from many different eras got together Saturday evening for the 35th annual Marine Corps Reunion.

Every year, the reunion gives local marines and other vets the chance to reconnect, meet fellow servicemen and women, and share stories.

This year, there are marines coming from as far away as California and New Jersey. There were also two Iwo Jima conquerors there – survivors of the legendary battle that happened in February of 1945.

“That is extremely special because the audience gets to see live individuals that served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and up through Afghanistan and Desert Storm,” said Harry Dampf, Marine Corps League.

The reunion is hosted by the Marine Corps League. They meet the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Marine vets are welcome to drop by as a visitor and then decide if they want to join.
