7UP to scale back Yo. operations

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The 7UP Bottling Company has notified employees the Youngstown plant will shut down Oct. 17.

The business on Meridian Road has 42 workers.

Spokesperson Chris Barns said the company can operate more efficiently by consolidating the local plant with nearby branches in Pittsburgh, Twinsburg and Mansfield.

The majority of the workers will be transferred, but a small number of positions will be eliminated.

Barns said decision was made after reviewing operations. The plant will still deliver locally.
