Warren holds back to school party

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – For the second year in a row, Warren City Schools held a party to get their students excited about going back to the classroom.

The district held the back to school celebration Monday on the square in downtown Warren.

Parents were informed about the upcoming year and signed up for PTA and school volunteer programs, and students were able to pick up free books.

Superintendent Steve Chiaro said the buildings are bright, shiny and clean and ready for the students’ return.

“It is a good opportunity for us to celebrate and get excited about school starting, which starts one week from today,” Chiaro said.

About 1,000 people turned out for the event.

Warren Harding High School Principal Dante Capers and Chiaro took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge during the event. They were challenged by last year’s varsity basketball team.
