Hubbard fire started in garage

HUBBARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A fire that destroyed a house in Hubbard on Sunday started in an attached garage.

Eagle Joint Fire District Chief Ron Stanish said Tuesday the fire in the 7100 block of Pine Grove Drive originated in the garage where a vehicle was parked and spread throughout the house.

Two people were in the home at the time of the fire but were able to escape. The family pet, a Great Dane, died in the fire.

Stanish said the house was extensively damaged and wasn’t sure if the owners plan to rebuild.

Crews were called to the home about 10 p.m. Sunday. Smoke and flames were showing when they arrived.

The State Fire Marshal continues to investigate.
