E. Liverpool nurses union rejects tentative deal

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – The future of care at East Liverpool City Hospital is uncertain after the nurses union rejected another contract offer on Wednesday.

A tentative deal was reached last week between hospital administrators and the negotiating team for the East Liverpool Nurses Association. Hospital officials said they felt confident the contract would be approved after the negotiating team gave its unanimous approval.

However, the union rejected the deal. Vote totals were not released.

Talks have been ongoing for months and the nurses issued a 10-day strike notice in May that was later rescinded. Hospital administrators said previously that rejection of a previous offer prevented a planned merger between River Valley Health Partners and Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Hospital administrators said they will now regroup to determine what action to take next.
