New Castle burglary suspect contacts mom, still at large

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) – New Castle police said they have given up searching the Shenango River for a burglary suspect, but they are still asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Warrants have been issued for Christopher Jackson, 19, of the Pittsburgh area. Police said he is one of two men who broke into Greek’s House of Gold jewelry store Tuesday morning, but managed to jump a fence and dive into the water to get away.

Authorities spent several hours on Tuesday searching for Jackson and even used a helicopter. On Wednesday, police said Jackson called his mother to say he is OK and he did not drown, but police have still not been able to arrest him.

The other suspect, Devin Sims, was captured and is in custody.

Anyone with information on Jackson’s whereabouts should call New Castle police.
