Man acknowledges bilking IRS of nearly $3 million

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A Pennsylvania man has acknowledged bilking the IRS of nearly $3 million by claiming fraudulent tax refunds.

Twenty-six-year-old Andy O. Rodriguez pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in Philadelphia to 23 counts of making false claims.

Authorities say Rodriguez electronically filed more than 600 fake returns that sought refunds under other people’s names.

The documents filed between August 2010 and January 2012 allegedly included fabricated W-2 forms showing taxes withheld by various employers.

A judge will sentence the Allentown resident on Nov. 24.
